DeMarcus Smith

DeMarcus found his interest in visual art while studying Graphic Design at Mott Community College; he then finished his academic career at the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication.

Smith’s work is rooted in a neo-impressionist hyper pointillism style, made popular by George Seurat. By juxtaposing the black diaspora through historical and socially charged narratives and objects. DeMarcus uses a mixture of his own experiences, hip hop and pop culture influences and a bit of comic panel style storytelling as inspirations for his work.

Smith takes a flat, blank canvas and brings it to life with all the energy and vivacity that inspired the vision behind it. DeMarcus seeks to spread an appreciation of art through his visual storytelling one dot at a time.
